Press Release, April 2002
Title: New State-of-the-Art Dental Practice Opens in Oakland City Center – ‘Future Dentistry Today’

Oakland, CA – City Center Dental at the Rotunda, a new concept in dental care, opens its doors on April 15, providing professionals who work in Oakland’s newly renovated landmark city center area with easy access to premium dental care. The concept for this private group practice centers on the skilled practitioners and the complete integration of leading-edge technology. All doctors and staff are committed to providing an overall positive experience for each patient. Combining this attitude of comfort and service with technology, City Center Dental believes it is offering a new standard of care in dentistry.

The entire office will be paperless, all dental records being digitized and stored on servers, including all x-rays. CRTs (high-resolution monitors) at every chair allow for access to patient records, as well as the viewing of dental x-rays and procedures. Patients can listen to music or watch DVDs or videos during their routine or procedural visits, all intended to make a more relaxing treatment environment for the patient. No detail has been left out – from the beautifully appointed interior design (reflective of the architectural style of the Rotunda Building itself), to the latest in technology, to the level of expertise of the entire professional staff. “Future Dentistry” has truly arrived today at City Center Dental in Oakland.

The goal of the practice is not only to be aware of new developments in the field of dentistry, but also to actively integrate them into the services offered. Patients can expect the latest and best in dental technology, procedures and service. “The standard of care we will provide will be unparalleled. We want to assure each of our patients that they will have an efficient, smooth and comfortable visit—one that will alter their perception of what dental care should be”, notes Dr. John VanCamp. VanCamp returns to the Bay Area from a large, successful group practice in San Diego, joining Dr. John Burns as one of the two founding doctors.

Dr. Burns, who has practiced his entire professional life in the city center area, is very excited about bringing his vision of the future of dentistry to life through establishing this new concept in a private group practice. He raises the question, “If you´re going to build a new practice from the ground up, why not use the best of everything? Our patients deserve no less.”

City Center Dental at the Rotunda is located in at 300 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Suite 100 (at Telegraph Avenue and 16th Street) in the recently restored Rotunda Building, a registered national historic landmark. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 510.291.4882. Additional information is available at www.citycenterdental.com.

Title: Ambassador of the Month
Profile: Judy Travis, CEO

Judy Travis, CEO of City Center Dental at The Rotunda, joined the Oakland Chamber in February 2002 to represent her new private group dental practice and joined the Ambassador Committee in March. The practice had its grand opening, attended by many in the Chamber, in April of this year. “I truly believe the entire City Center area is undergoing a grand renaissance. We are very pleased to be a part of what is happening here.” Ms. Travis is committed to being an Ambassador for that very reason – part of her vision for City Center Dental is that it contribute to the on-going business development process in downtown Oakland. “All businesses have to rely on others in the area to be successful. We´re here to provide only the best in dental care for those who live and work in the area.” She had a vision for a completely unique kind of practice environment and approach. She worked tirelessly, along with the two founding dentists, Drs. Burns and VanCamp, to bring this vision to a reality. “The concept behind City Center Dental is unique. We strive to reinforce the care portion of dental care. We focus on providing total patient comfort combined with the latest in dental expertise and technology. And this is all presented in a peaceful and relaxing environment.”

Ms. Travis is actively involved in outreach for the new dental practice. “We want to assure all of those who live and work in downtown Oakland that our practice exists to provide them with all of our outstanding services.” At first impression, City Center Dental is very peaceful, serene, spa-like and upscale. However, Ms. Travis and her team have established partnerships with most major insurance plans. “We want to make sure that we are not only here, but also absolutely accessible to and affordable for everyone.” (The practice is currently offering a grand opening incentive – a half-off teeth whitening special.)

The goal of this private group practice is to be aware of new developments in the field of dentistry and actively integrate them into the services offered. From teeth whitening, to cosmetic and therapeutic procedures, only the latest and best in dental technology and service is provided to patients. Highly advanced technology is one of the key features of the practice. The entire office is paperless. All dental records are digitized and stored on servers, including all x-rays. CRTs (high resolution monitors) at every chair allow for access to patient records, x-rays and procedures. Patients listen to their choice of music or watch DVDs or videos during routine or procedural visits. City Center Dental offers patients the flexibility to schedule both early morning and lunchtime appointments easily into their busy day.

Ms. Travis and the two founding doctors are very excited about bringing their concept of future dentistry to life – and providing it exclusively within Oakland´s City Center. This demonstrates that yet another new, innovative business has decided to locate in the heart of our city where so many positive transformations are taking place.

Title: Ambassador of the Month
Profile: Judy Travis, CEO

Judy Travis, CEO of City Center Dental at The Rotunda, is the Chamber´s “Ambassador of the Month” for the second month running. She continually strives to be a contributing member of the Chamber through her active participation in and dedication to the City Center business community. “Since the grand opening, area business leaders and our new patients have spread the word about our new concept in dentistry. We are so pleased that the opening has been such a success. We are beginning to see the practice grow more and more, which is reflective of the vibrant business community here in City Center,” Travis says.

The concept for this unique new dental practice was envisioned primarily by Ms. Travis. It is the intersection of highly advanced technology with stunning surroundings, all with a focus on providing superior dental care. Travis is an industry leader in the application of the latest in technology to enhance patient care.

Travis has made sure that the entire practice is built around this future dentistry concept, using only the most advanced diagnostic and procedural equipment. City Center Dental maintains a paperless environment and has a unique system for storing patients´ dental charts. A CRT (high resolution monitor) at every chair provides for access to patient records, x-rays and viewing routine procedures. Every effort has been made to ensure that patients receive superior dental care while feeling relaxed and comfortable. City Center Dental offers patients their choice of listening to music or watching DVDs right from the comfort of their own chair during waiting periods and routine procedures.

“We want all those who work and live in downtown Oakland to have convenient access to future dental care – today,” states Travis.
